With more and more people today surfing the net every day and communicating online through social networks, these have become an essential part of any online business. Using social networks as a marketing strategy can get you a higher conversion rate, and therefore more sales. But what exactly is “conversion”?

Conversion is everything that derives from internet activity into potential profit. It can be direct sales, public relations, brand awareness, or business relationships.

But how to make your business more profitable? Here are some SEO strategies to make simple visitors into conversions.

  • Include relevant content in your website. By knowing what keywords are used by your visitors and basing your content on them, you will ensure that they find what they are expecting when they get to your website. This way they will spend more time on your website, and it is more likely that they will pay attention to what you have to offer.
  • Make sure your website is focused on making your visitors take a series of actions that will progressively lead them to where you want. For instance, you can ask your visitors to sign up for a free membership in exchange for something (a download of a free app, for instance), and then send them to the next page, all of these steps focused towards getting them to sign up for the full membership and make them profitable. This is known as the marketing funnel.
  • Have a consumption strategy for your business. A consumption strategy is a way of making sure that your visitors are using the products and resources you are offering them, like forums or apps. If they use your products and resources, they will be more likely to come back to your website in the future and take the next step in your marketing funnel. The more actions you get your clients to take, the more loyal they will be, and this will increase your conversion rate.
  • Finally, it is always a good idea to measure the impact your strategies are having on users. You can efficiently track your users and their activity, and determine your reputation online with tools like Google Analytics or TwentyFeet.
