CTR (Click Through Rate) is the percentual or clicks rate per impression. That becomes calculated dividing the total of clicks or pages view.
Different kinds of CTR
- CTR of a single ad.
- CTR of ads block, conformed by until 4 individual ads.
- CTR of an individual page on your site or blog.
- CTR of the complete site.
The one showed by Adsense on your account details, obviously is the last type, where appear the total of clicks and the total of impressions. Allows only to see the general performance of your site, but is not useful to organize any optimization process.
The best will be having for every Adsense block an identification code, to evaluate their individual output.

How can you increase your CTR
- Combine different styles and formats, distributed on the whole page.
- Use the area where users pay more attention, on the top of the page.
- Use the format 300*250, combined with the posts content.
- Don´t upload your blog´s advertising, will be rejected.
- Work on the CTR of every individual page.
- Get a high traffic from the search engines. Should be more prone to make click users who already know your site.
- Don´t lie to your visitors, avoid unvalid clicks. At long-term that will generate less benefits to advertisers and your CPC will be lower.
- Use Eyetracking technics to optimize the ads placement.
