During the last year has been done several studies about the features that make a website persuasive enough and more than 300 international websites has been reviewed to extract which ones are the best of 2011.

Companies have changed their online strategies adapting their sites to mobile devices, smartphones and tablets to enrich the user´s experience and make easier to get found on the Internet universe. Social networks have transformed the modus in what users get closer to the different enterprises on the Internet, making entrepreneurs to think about the integration of the different kinds of communication, online and offline, never more business to business, welcome the communication business to consumer.

Users are adopting mobile devices as a shopping tool

  • The smartphone is a consumer’s always-on companion… especially while shopping and an emerging point of purchase.
  • While mobile use is prevalent and on an upward trajectory, its growth is not at the expense of computer Internet use.
  • Smartphone users have a high incidence of search, video viewing, and local information seeking.
  • Japanese smartphone users are unique. They are active smartphone users and may represent a window into the future of smartphone use in other countries.
  • Businesses seem to be lagging behind the consumer in terms of use/support of mobile. This represents a significant opportunity.
  • Barriers to further growth in mobile marketing seem to be easily addressed.
  • While the mobile revolution is moving at different speeds across the globe, it is evident everywhere.

Tips to make a website attractive for users

According to the different polls made, keys to persuade users are:

  • Improve the user´s navigation experience, enriching it with a more comfortable and intuitive interface, with a selection of widgets and functionalities, easy-to-use and quick loading.
  • Own personality to differenciate your proposal from other proposals on the Internet.
  • Dinamic sites in constant evolution, anticipating what the user needs on every moment.
  • Microsegmentation allows to create proposals for every different target.
  • Interactions to invite the user to spend more time on your site and know better your proposal.
  • Community purchasing sites have changed user´s shopping behaviour.
  • Social networks become the main characters on the Internet: sites add contents of social networks to reinforce their proposal.
  • And not only this, brands are instaled on social networks sowing the seed for fcommerce (sales from Facebook).

Yes, it’s quite clear that mobile revolutionized the web in such a short time and in such a way that it wouldn’t have been thought of only a few years ago. I will go even further and say that I don’t agree with this statement:”While mobile use is prevalent and on an upward trajectory, its growth is not at the expense of computer Internet use.” I think quite the contrary, actually. Given the growth rate, I can envision computers being confined to the workspace and almost completely discarded for personal use.
