The success of a mobile browser is showing the information from websites quickly and optimizing the content for the small screen. For this reason, the main point used in comparaison analyses is the loading rate websites. Moreover, there are features like tabbed browsing, security, RSS feeds and voice interaction, which provides a richer experience at the moment to use the mobile.
Internet browsers should have three main objectives: simplicity, security and helping you get the most from the web. Due to the limited space used by browsers you might even decide to use more than one – for example, one for fun and one for research. Below we show some criteria used to evaluate Internet browsers but it depends on each user to find his more suitable one.
Android
There is a large list of browsers that support this operating system. Below we show some of them.
Skyfire 2.0. This browser is characterized by the ability to display video in Flash format, even on devices that do not support it. The program adapts the video though a conversion process to become compatible with mobile conditions. It has a quick button to view websites on its PC version.
Dolphin HD. The tabbed browsing and the ability to add more than 40 features make this application a good alternative. It offers full-screen display and the ability to access the history and markers just sliding the screen to the right with your finger.
Fennec. It is the first attempt on mobile technology by the creators of Firefox, the popular browser for PC. Its goal be able to synchronize mobile and desktop equipments, automatically, to handle information as favorites and browsing history.
xScope. Is it one of the best browsers when we use the tabbed browsing, but only supports a maximum of six. In contrast we can move between them quickly. It offers a Task Manager and a files one. One of its features is the finger zoom, where the double clicking on the screen (still pressing the last click) we can zoom sliding fingers sideways.
TextOnly Browser. TextOnly is the perfect browser if you are nearly out of reception coverage or you have only a very weak 2G or you want to spend very very few Kilobytes. TextOnly is a free application and although it is still a little unripe because it is not very fast, it performs its function perfectly.
Miren Browser We can not forget this popular browser that presents some interesting features like a practical home screen (it allows to give you acces to your most frequenty websites, downloads, RSS feeds, etc.), flash support or tab control. You will find the app easy, intuitive and smooth.
iPhone.
The operating system by Apple, also has a not inconsiderable list of browsers. We discuss some of them.
Atomic Web Browser. The same application available for the iPhone, but with adjustments to fit the small screen of the iPhone. Two buttons at the bottom are very useful: one of them (with a number enclosed in a pair of squares) refers to the open tabs and allows you to display or remove the tab bar, the right button allows full screen display. It has a paid version and a free one that offers fewer features.
Aquari. For the paranoid or those who do not want someone to see your browsing history. It is protected with a four numbers password that is essential to type every time you want to open the program. It is free.
iBrowse Duo Mini. An alternative to see two pages at the same time that are displayed one above the other. It has a paid version.
Magic Browser. With this browser we can save on your phone spreadsheets or text files, as well as most image formats. It is also possible to store website to be consulted later. It’s free.
Safari. Safari is the exclusive web browser of OS X, that can not be installed on any other system other than the owner of the iPhone / iPod Touch and has a really powerful performance. The browsing is focused on the display of normal websites, without rendering or processing to fit the screen of your terminal.
Blackberry
There are not many options for RIM mobiles, but the two proposals we present are free and want to innovate in a market where others are not interested. Moreover, Blackberry systems also supports the popular and powerful Opera browser (it is presented after).
Bolt. This browser is not exclusive of Blackberry, it is also supported in Android system. Its main features are the fast mobile browsing, the easy switch between multiple sites with tabbed browsing and the possibility to browse any site with the best page rendering available. It is free.
uZard. This option supports cross platform, it does not require high precessing power and it is easy to customize and converge. It is supported by Android and Windows Mobile too. It is free.
Opera, the universal
No other company has decided to invest so much effort into the segment of the Internet browsers like Opera, which claims to have over 140 million users. His contribution is to have your browser available for almost all mobile platforms on the market, from the system S60 (Nokia), phones based on Java technology (mid-range equipments), BlackBerry, iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile, without taking into account the computer version and the Nintendo DSi.
For mobile devices, the cogmpany offers two browsers: Opera Mini and Opera Mobile. Opera Mini makes a rapid compression in Opera servers before displaying the information, the version 11.5 is the latest in this program, used in iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, among others. Meanwhile, Opera Mobile is a full browser for laptops that does not make any intermediation (only for S60, Windows Mobile and Maemo).
Opera has, among others, an unlimited tabbed browsing, search field next to the address bar, main page which gives quick access to the sites visited by the user, it allows to block pop-ups and dismiss all the graphic details and unnecessary websites codes . Moreover, it gives the possibility to choose the resolution in which you want the images, helping them load faster.
Teashark, the direct Opera contender
Teasharl is the true, and recent direct contender Opera Mini because it allows to install it on any terminal with support for Java, is free and is full of features.
Teashark is based on Webkit 3, as well as the latest version of Safari (I mean Safari 3 for Mac and Windows), and integrates support for tabs, preview as miniatures, markers (labeled and color selection), RSS reader, zoom and landscape mode and normal one.
We include in this post a simulator of Opera mini for testing its features.
Great information! Now I have more than I have expected to decide and choose my best mobile browser!
Definitely, Opera is the best browser for me, free and brilliant! thank you for the post.
Safari in Pc and mobile, it is the easier solution for browsers so you are familiarized with the interface. I think is great having the sharing the same browser in all your devices.
Opera has many followers and support companies. I don’t believe that Teashark wins Opera in the future.
Can anyone recommend me the best browser for blackberry? I’m waiting for proposals.
Opera is the best! easy, rapid and clear!
Safari por iPhone it’s very good too… but I think the most important thing is to have a good Internet connexion…
skyfire is very good too! thank you for this collection! cool!
